“Out of plenty… give to those in need, Out of knowledge… give to those who yearn for understanding, Out of peace… give comfort to those whose hearts are troubled, Out of love… give compassion to those who feel lonely and unloved.”

“Nevertheless, God’s solid foundation stands firm, sealed with this inscription: ‘The Lord knows those who are his’, and, ‘Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness’.”
2Timothy 2:19 (NIV – UK version)

Christianity demands moral purpose. The Bible promises to motivate us to obtain and maintain the fruits of the Spirit by the motivations contained in it; these coming by warnings, admonitions, exhortations, illustrations and precepts for living; for God’s word not only saves us, it is proof of His love.

God’s Word is immutable and the ONLY “Solid Foundation”, and that is the precept upon which this blog is based.

I pray that the Lord will use this blog and my humble attempts at explaining things I learn along my own walk to uplift my fellow brothers and sisters and to help bring light to where there is darkness, hope to where there is despair, and to feed those who hunger for truth and righteousness, and then to be set free to STAND on the One, True Solid Foundation, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

In Him…

Why Aren’t We Reaching the Unsaved With The Message of Christ?

Our world, with all of it’s beauties, wonders and delights is wicked, evil and will perish. God Himself has said so. All of this, from the Grand Canyon to Mount Everest will one day be made as flat as a pancake; everything, that is, except for the Holy City, and then, after 1,000 years, it will ALL go away and a new heaven and new earth will come down. Our very bodies will be changed and the wicked, the damned, the unrepentant will suffer the tortures of hell forever, “And the smoke of their torment will rise for ever and ever. There will be no rest day or night for those who worship the beast and its image, or for anyone who receives the mark of its name.” Rev 14:11 (NIV)

Folks, this isn’t some fluffy “pie in the sky, by and by”!!!! NONE of anything material, none of this earthly “stuff” will matter… the ONLY thing that will matter, for eternity, is that choice – to either accept the Lord as your Lord and Savior, or to reject Him. It doesn’t matter HOW you reject Him – philosophically, scientifically, theologically, psychologically, semantically, numerically, logically, ideologically or even archaeologically! Rejection, in any form, amounts to to the same thing. There is no gray area, there is no “Purgatory”, there are no second chances once this life is over – every one of us MUST (and will!) make that choice!!!!!

And yet, what do we see happening in our churches, homes, communities, municipalities, etc.? Are we reaching out to our unsaved neighbors, co-workers, teachers, students, family, friends, club-members, etc.? Are we going out into the world preaching the Gospel of Christ to the ends of the earth, as we are told to do in the Great Commission? Or do we spend our time on “feel-good” things, only to wind up trying “to look like the world to win the world”? We see, sadly too often, our Christian leaders sounding more like sound-bytes than preachers of the Word and those who “divide the Word” correctly.

I am not saying we shouldn’t be happy that we are Christians! I am positively THRILLED to know that I am loved by my Creator so much that He sent Jesus to die in my stead, to take my penalty for my sin upon Himself, so that I could be reconciled, through belief in Him, to the Father. I am not saying we should go about with long faces, all “gloom an doom”, etc. NO! A thousand times no! YET – We simply can’t lose sight of the REASON for us being here – to fulfill the will of God Almighty Himself. Jesus TOLD us – each of us – what that Will is, and how we each need to respond to it:

“For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16(NIV)

How do we do that? “Jesus answered, “I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit….For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.” John 3:5, 17-18(NIV) And then, once we ourselves are believers, Jesus said, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[a] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20(NIV)

I’ve seen so many, well-meaningly, “preaching” a “feel-good” message. The truth, like life itself, is far grittier, dirtier, harder and filled with trial, toils and tribulations than that. Is love a great force to reach out? Yes, we should always reach out in love – in fact, Jesus taught us to do so- see Mark 12:30-32 (NIV) But if you see your child running at top speed out into a busy street, do you simply stand there and say in a calm and loving manner, “I love you, Bobby, please come back here because you could get hurt. Come here and let me tell you why and you will be fine, and then we’ll do some fun things, okay?”. NO! We run after, screaming their name, screaming at them to “get back here!” and “Look out!” – snatching them back and, yes, most of us would even scold the child for being so heedless. And even feel immense guilt for not having forestalled such an event to begin with.

What do you think sin is doing to everyone around us, in the whole world? They’re ALL out playing in traffic, walking on the edge of cliffs, wading out into rip-tides, skating on thin ice and jumping into fires!!!! And we’re just going to stand there and sing songs, putting out little to no effort, saying all of the “right things” and being lukewarm?

I challenge my brothers and sisters, especially those who’ve never shared the Good News with anyone – DO IT. Just once. Tell someone about Jesus, His life, His ministry, His gift of salvation. In the words of the great old hymn:

“STAND UP, STAND UP FOR JESUS”:

“Stand up, stand up for Jesus, ye soldiers of the cross;
Lift high His royal banner, it must not suffer loss.
From victory unto victory His army shall He lead,
Till every foe is vanquished, and Christ is Lord indeed.

Stand up, stand up for Jesus, stand in His strength alone;
The arm of flesh will fail you, ye dare not trust your own.
Put on the Gospel armor, each piece put on with prayer;
Where duty calls or danger, be never wanting there.”

May God richly bless you in Christ Jesus, through Whom our salvation comes.
